San Juan Cruise Port and Global Ports Holding Sponsor the 2025 FCCA Conference in Puerto Rico
San Juan Cruise Port, in partnership with Global Ports Holding, proudly sponsored the 31st Annual Florida-Caribbean Cruise Association Conference & Trade Show, one of the most important cruise industry gatherings in the Americas.
Held in Puerto Rico from October 24 to 31, 2025, the conference brought together cruise line executives, tourism leaders, destination representatives, and key decision-makers from across the region. For San Juan, the event represented more than industry presence. It was an opportunity to showcase the progress taking place across the port and reinforce Puerto Rico’s position within the future of Caribbean cruising.
A Key Industry Platform for the Caribbean Cruise Sector
The FCCA Annual Conference & Trade Show serves as a strategic meeting point for the cruise industry, creating space for conversations around itinerary planning, destination development, infrastructure needs, and long-term growth across the Caribbean.
With more than 800 cruise industry executives and regional stakeholders expected to participate, the event placed Puerto Rico at the center of meaningful dialogue about the future of cruise tourism.
For San Juan Cruise Port, this visibility comes at a defining moment. Since assuming operations in February 2024, SJCP has advanced a broad modernization program designed to strengthen the port’s infrastructure, improve operational efficiency, and support a better experience for cruise passengers, vessels, and industry partners.
Showcasing San Juan’s Port Modernization Progress
As part of the conference program, attendees had the opportunity to visit San Juan Cruise Port facilities and observe the ongoing transformation firsthand.
The tour offered industry leaders a closer look at the capital improvement projects currently underway, including infrastructure upgrades, terminal enhancements, and long-term development planning intended to prepare San Juan for the next generation of cruise travel.
These site visits are an important part of building confidence with cruise lines and partners. They allow stakeholders to see the scale of investment, the progress being made, and the vision guiding the port’s transformation.
More Than $60 Million Invested Since 2024
San Juan Cruise Port has executed more than $60 million in infrastructure improvements since taking over operations in February 2024. These works form part of a long-term $425 million investment commitment under the Public-Private Partnership with the Puerto Rico Ports Authority.
The modernization program focuses on expanding berth capacity, improving passenger flow, upgrading terminal infrastructure, and strengthening operational performance across the port.
These improvements are designed to support Puerto Rico’s continued growth as both a leading Caribbean homeport and a strategic port of call. They also reflect the importance of investing in infrastructure that can meet the evolving needs of cruise lines, passengers, and the local tourism economy.
Strengthening San Juan’s Role in Global Ports Holding’s Network
San Juan Cruise Port is part of Global Ports Holding’s international network of cruise ports, which spans 33 ports across 21 countries. Within that global portfolio, San Juan represents a key market in the Caribbean and a major opportunity for long-term cruise development.
Through its sponsorship of the FCCA Conference, SJCP and GPH reinforced their commitment to active industry engagement, strategic partnerships, and sustainable growth for the region.
The conference also provided a valuable platform to continue aligning with cruise lines, tourism partners, government stakeholders, and regional leaders around shared priorities for the Caribbean cruise sector.
Advancing Puerto Rico’s Cruise Future
Puerto Rico’s cruise industry is closely connected to the broader tourism economy. Each ship call creates opportunities for local businesses, tour operators, transportation providers, cultural attractions, restaurants, retailers, and hospitality partners across the island.
By investing in stronger infrastructure and participating in high-level industry forums such as the FCCA Conference, San Juan Cruise Port continues supporting the conditions needed for long-term growth.
The 2025 FCCA Conference marked another important step in that direction. It brought the industry to Puerto Rico, opened the door for strategic conversations, and allowed San Juan Cruise Port to demonstrate how its modernization program is helping shape the future of cruise travel on the island.
As San Juan continues moving forward, SJCP remains focused on building a port that supports operational excellence, strengthens Puerto Rico’s role in the Caribbean, and contributes to a cruise economy that benefits the island for years to come.
