Global Ports Holding Promotes Clarivette Díaz to Regional Director, Latin America
The Puerto Rican maritime executive will continue serving as General Manager of San Juan Cruise Port while supporting GPH’s strategic growth across the region.
Global Ports Holding (GPH), the world’s largest independent cruise port operator, has promoted Clarivette Díaz to Regional Director, Latin America.
Effective July 1, 2026, the appointment expands Díaz’s responsibilities across the region while she continues serving as General Manager of San Juan Cruise Port.
The promotion recognizes her leadership in San Juan and positions her to support GPH’s continued growth, strengthen regional partnerships, and identify new opportunities for cruise tourism throughout Latin America.
An Expanded Leadership Role Across Latin America
In her new role, Díaz will lead strategic growth initiatives with an initial focus on Mexico while supporting GPH’s broader development across Spanish-speaking markets.
Working closely with the company’s Americas leadership team, she will help strengthen relationships with cruise lines, government authorities, tourism organizations, and other industry stakeholders.
Her regional responsibilities will include supporting GPH’s expansion strategy and ensuring that new opportunities are approached with an understanding of each destination’s operational needs, institutional environment, and long-term tourism goals.
At the same time, Díaz will remain at the helm of San Juan Cruise Port, providing continuity during an important period of infrastructure development and operational growth.
More Than 17 Years of Maritime and Logistics Experience
Díaz brings more than 17 years of experience in the maritime and logistics industries to her expanded position.
She began her career with Tropical Shipping in 2008 and advanced through several leadership roles before becoming Island Manager for the Port of San Juan.
In 2023, she was appointed General Manager of Puerto Rico Terminals, an affiliate of Tropical Shipping. She joined Global Ports Holding in November 2024 as General Manager of San Juan Cruise Port.
Her career has provided extensive experience in port management, cargo and passenger operations, logistics, stakeholder engagement, and the leadership of complex maritime organizations.
This operational foundation will be central to her new regional mandate as GPH continues exploring opportunities across Latin America.
Leadership Rooted in San Juan
Since joining San Juan Cruise Port, Díaz has played an important role in strengthening operations and building productive relationships with government agencies, cruise lines, business partners, and the wider port community.
Her leadership has coincided with a defining stage in the port’s transformation, as SJCP advances major infrastructure projects and reinforces San Juan’s position as a leading Caribbean cruise destination and homeport.
The progress taking place in San Juan demonstrates the importance of combining international port experience with strong local leadership and an understanding of the destination.
Díaz’s continued role as General Manager ensures that San Juan Cruise Port will remain a central part of her work while also allowing the experience gained in Puerto Rico to inform GPH’s broader regional strategy.
Connecting San Juan with Regional Growth
The appointment creates a stronger connection between San Juan Cruise Port and Global Ports Holding’s expansion across Latin America.
As GPH increases its presence in the region, collaboration among ports can support the exchange of operational knowledge, industry best practices, and destination-development strategies.
San Juan’s position within the Caribbean cruise industry provides valuable perspective on homeport operations, relationships with cruise lines, passenger experience, public-private collaboration, and the economic role of cruise tourism.
Díaz will be able to bring that perspective to regional conversations while continuing to identify practices and opportunities that can support San Juan’s own development.
A Puerto Rican Leader with a Regional Mandate
The promotion reflects GPH’s confidence in Díaz’s leadership, commercial vision, and ability to build partnerships across the public and private sectors.
It also places a Puerto Rican maritime executive in a position to contribute to the growth of cruise tourism across Latin America.
Díaz has identified sustainable growth, regional collaboration, and stronger relationships with cruise lines and local stakeholders as important priorities for her expanded role.
Her appointment represents both professional recognition and a new opportunity to bring Puerto Rican experience and leadership to a broader international platform.
As she begins this next chapter, Clarivette Díaz will continue guiding San Juan Cruise Port while helping Global Ports Holding advance its long-term vision throughout Latin America.
