Stay Cool, Stay Protected
Puerto Rico's tropical climate means plenty of sunshine—so bring water, sunscreen, and a hat. Many cruise travelers underestimate how hot it gets walking through the cobblestone streets of Old San Juan.
Sun safety starts on shore. Even in the cooler months, the sun in San Juan can be intense. Locals know to start their day early, take breaks in shaded plazas, and never skip the SPF. Bottled water is widely available, but consider refilling at cafés along the way—just ask! A small umbrella or portable fan is also a smart addition for mid-day strolls.
